Today I thought it would be a nice idea to do a kind of pre holiday post, you may already know that this Sunday 1st October I will be flying out to Ibiza with Calum and to say I'm excited is an understatement. This will be our second holiday together, I know this holiday however is going to top the last one, I definitely have started a few things this year that are totally different to last year. Which looking back, makes me realise a lot has changed for starters this time last year I hadn't written a single blog post for or about my holiday, let alone have my own YouTube channel. So without further a do, lets get stuck in.
So we've had less than 2 weeks to get holiday ready, as we suddenly one night decided to have a look at what holidays were about just to have a look. We'd been looking on On The Beach for a while but just hadn't come across any holiday deals we liked. We had two requirements for this holiday compared to the last; a hotel on or near the beach and a decent gym within the hotel for Cal. Although we had a lovely holiday last year, I do feel we rushed in without really doing our research, we ended up going to Turkey in an okay hotel but nothing fancy. The hotel also turned out not to be in a very nice part of Turkey and the beach was horrid.
We came across a lovely hotel, which has a modern feel to it, with beautiful gardens and interior inside the hotel of course there's a pool or maybe two and surprisingly it was in Ibiza.. somewhere I'd never been nor even though about going to. You see at aged 23 I feel I've had my party days, I've been on 2 girls holidays and I'm now all about relaxing and exploring, which with Cal is always perfect as he's the same.
So yes, that's right we're heading to Ibiza on Sunday and I can't bloody wait, from doing my research it looks absolutely gorgeous! We're staying in San Antonio, one of Spain’s Balearic Islands, there's a beautiful bay and it's supposed to be nice and lively there.
With booking a last minute holiday, it means less time to get things done beforehand, less time to pack, save and less time to hit up the gym, diet and get slightly fitter too. Of course not everyone is bothered about "getting fit" before a holiday and that's brilliant, I however had basically started to let myself go from around June.. I don't really know why or what happened, but I just decided I didn't care about my body. BIG MISTAKE, although I'm not saying I'd participially put loads of weight on, I'd just stopped going to the gym, meaning my body wasn't looking anywhere near as "toned" as it could look for this holiday.. But nonetheless the past 2 weeks I've been clean eating and training as much as I possibly can to get my confidence back..
I can't say I'm even slightly bothered about how my body looks this year as I'm comfortable in my body right now, for me its the skin on my face I'm more concerned about. I recently was prescribed anti-biotic to clear some of it up, however I think I'm always going to have the redness on my chin. I do usually find that the sun abroad helps my face the most, so I'm just trying my hardest not to over think such a small problem.
The main topic for this post, is how to get ready for a holiday in a short amount time. I like to stay as stressed free as I can during this period, although saying that right now its currently Thursday and I haven't yet packed! Normally if I'm going away I get excited to pack, meaning I over pack and bring far too much, where as this year I'm going to plan out my outfits to limit the amount of clothes I take and so in the mornings of getting ready I'll know exactly what I want to wear. I feel like I want to be far more organised in the clothes I bring, as I plan on filming and hopefully shooting outfits etc.
This year I want to take the whole blog and YouTube seriously as my biggest regret is the fact that when I went to Turkey I didn't take photos or even think about blog posts. At the end of the day I'm a Lifestyle blogger and YouTuber so I feel like incorporating travel into my work will do nothing but benefit me, to be totally honest I'm already having ideas for when I'm out there in order of filming vlogs, look books and shooting photo's for different posts I can put up on here. Of course Calum also has his YouTube channel and so will be filming himself, so it only seems like an even better chance to get away!
Something I love about going away is the adventure, the scenery, the difference between the way a holiday makes you feel and the productivity of the whole thing. It always just feels so free, you can do whatever your heart desires, be that lounging by the pool soaking up the sun while drinking cocktails or going for massive walks to find perfect little places and getting a feel for your surroundings. It's the fact you're away from the stresses at home, the fact you get to be in the sunshine and your having a break from things.
There's a few things I like to do, before I go away on holiday and I'm sure I'm not the only girl who treats herself before flying off on holiday. So I thought why not fill you guys in on my "pre holiday essentials" firstly, as I'm going away later on in the year it means all of the shops are now out with summer and in with autumn, which of course is fine but that means finding last minute bits is left to the internet. The benefit however is the sales on the internet are always at their best right now, I only bought a few pieces I felt I needed without going over board for such a little price there's no feeling guilty about the splurge.
I like to go through the things I have, either physically or in this case mentally and prepare myself in advance for the bits I NEED in order to stop myself going overboard and ordering a whole new summer wardrobe, as chances are you won't wear everything you buy and it'll eventually just sit there until the next summer. So after doing this it meant I limited what I bought and doubled my chance in getting to wear them, of course outfit details will be appearing on here. Then when it comes to packing, instead of throwing random pieces in hope of outfits coming together, I personally am the best at this.. I always end up over packing, ending up with many random pieces I then struggle to wear.
So something I'm going to try this year is "outfit planning" before I go, work out day outfits, night outfits and everything in between ensuring I always have a planned outfit ready and waiting. I don't think there's anything worse than when you're on holiday without a clue on what to wear! I always end up throwing my clothes out of my suitcase hunting for that perfect outfit, when instead if it's already planned out it'll hopefully save me a lot of time. The last thing I want is Calum getting annoyed with me as he waits an hour each morning and night while I hunt for something to wear.
In terms of beauty, my two essentials are eyebrows and eyelashes, I always get my eyebrows waxed, trimmed and tinted ensuring that they're in the best condition possible and meaning the hairs are darker for no make up days. I then ALWAYS get eyelash extensions; I'm sure you'll know what these are unless you've been living under a rock! But I find eyelashes are essential as it means you don't have to worry about mascara, smudging make up and you just look slightly more put together on those no make up days, they're also great at making you feel slightly more glamorous. I mean who wouldn't want something that makes your eye lashes look gorgeous anyway?
Luckily for me, I have a good friend Fran who is a beautician and always sorts me out perfectly, I went in yesterday for my treatments, I always feel like laying there while someone does your eyebrows and eyelashes extremely relaxing. If I wanted a little snooze this is the perfect time to do so, but I find we end up chatting away forever and catching up on life. For me to get my eyebrows and eyelashes done it cost £70, which to me is a very good price for such good service, you'll never walk away unhappy with your final result I can assure you of that! - I thought it would be perfect to get some photo's while I'm having this done..
I can't even tell you how excited I am to see what Ibiza holds in store for us, I cant wait to get out there and be in the sunshine, I'm holding my fingers crossed that the weather will still be just as hot out there as it has been. This time next week I'm sure I'll have a tan, be drinking cocktails and having the best time!
I hope you've enjoyed this post, found it useful and took something away from this, remember if you have any particular things you'd like to share you can do so in the comments section.
