"Most of the time while you are working on your "side hustle" in hope of making it and being able to make it your full-time profession you're also aware that it may never happen. But if you love it from day one then that won't be the be all or end all and like me you won't mind because you'll still have your very own little space on the internet."
Right now I'm doing something I've always said I wanted to do, it's nothing big like jumping out of an plane (hell no!) but I'd always walk past people doing the thing I am now and say "I wish I could do that, I bet it's so productive" believe it or not I'd always wanted to sit in a quirky little coffee shop, tucked away in the corner
of a street.
I can't tell you why, but the thought of it sends my over active mind spinning with creative excitement, so here I am on a Tuesday afternoon sat in a cute little coffee shop sipping on my Frappuccino with pen to paper. The Wi-Fi is slightly worse than I imagined, but that's okay because the less distractions the better. There's something so special about sitting here drinking my Frappuccino and letting inspiration flow naturally.
I feel so free sat here among others with their laptops in front of them, headphones in ears or newspapers on laps, all ages all busy in their own little bubble. Of course I choose a window seat, so I can occasionally look out and people watch, make up stories in my head of where they're off to, the way they'd speak, what they talk about and create scenarios in my head. I spend the majority of my writing days tucked up in my room with my music playing, alone to ensure distractions are limited, so I'd always wondered if I'd be able to work in a busy environment in the same way.
There's mums and babies meeting friends for catch ups, over coffee with the occasional giggle or cry. I feel so sophisticated and important, I wonder if people around me are also trying to guess what I may be writing; a book? School homework? Studies? The possibilities are endless; but I doubt they'd guess I'm writing a blog post. Unless your in the blogosphere industry you wouldn't even second guess it, I mean why would someone think of a blogger?
Blogging is strange sometimes, as many people out there in the world have their very own internet space's
but it's not until your within the industry you see how many others there actually are.. I think the way the blogosphere has evolved is amazing, anywhere you go, you may well be among bloggers big or small, although few people make it, the hustle and passion behind those hustling is something else. Then there's
the support system of everyone rooting for each other, you can see the true extent of this on Twitter
Sometimes I have to remind myself of JK Rowling's story, it took her 7 years to get her first book Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone published she'd just gotten a divorce, was on government aid and could barely afford to feed her baby, she hand typed the book manually and was rejected dozens of times before finally after 7 years she got published. She had to believe in herself enough in order to keep trying time and time again!
Not everyone goes through this, some people choose the corporate world, some choose to settle with families and only a select few try to achieve their dreams. We seem to assume the people who make it, just magically got there, without thinking about all of the steps they had to take in order to achieve it. People seem to overlook the "side hustle" you aren't around to see the late night's, early mornings and a million coffee's in between. This is the most frustrating stage I'm sure because it takes up so much energy, hours and persistence at the end of the day it's mainly down to time.
It's all about enjoying the process, setting goals without getting ahead of yourself of course you hope to make it work, but to keep yourself grounded you have to celebrate the small things just as much as the bigger things. If you love the process from the beginning then you're set to go, as the "hustle" means working over time, for hours upon hours in the evenings, the mornings or any spare time you have. While your working towards your dreams for free, you also have to somehow keep yourself afloat, so there's other responsibilities around you things you have to do in order to make money in the now.
Most of the time while your working on your "side hustle" in hope of making it and being able to make it your full-time profession you're also aware that it may never happen. But if you love it from day one then that won't be the be all or end all like me you won't mind because you'll still have your very own little space on the internet. You know what, I personally love my space on the internet, I love being able to share things with you, I like to think I'm authentic in the way I keep it real across all of my platforms. It celebrates little snippets of me and my life
I'm just here doing me with pure honesty and truth. So it feels right to share this with you because I feel that the "side hustle" can be over looked and unappreciated. It can be so fucking stressful from time to time when you just want to skip to the part where you're where you want to be. Sometimes self doubt can creep in or you compare yourself to the people at the top or many other situations that can make you question if your dream will ever become your reality. No matter what it is that you want to do or be, so long as you believe you can, you're prepared to try your bloody hardest and hustle for as long as needs be then I'm a firm believer in it working out.
I believe in myself, I believe I've got potential, I'm different from the rest and I have something unique to offer to you guys. But I'm realistic in that I know it'll never just happen over night, it'll never be easy and it can take years. You see I don't want to make it to the top just for myself, I want to make it to continue to share me, my stories, my journey and offer you guys what you deserve;hope. I want you guys to follow me in my journey, to make you realise that dreams do and will come true so long as your prepared to work and try. I want you guys to follow the ups and downs of life, to be in the know and always know that life happens. I don't want to give false hope that you're going to live this perfect planned out life, because that's just not visible. This is reality, not a fairy tale and that's why you'll find the raw, the personal stories and the advice, the ups and many many more; I'll continue to write and share with you. Maybe one day you'll be here when I make it, or maybe that won't happen but I hope you're as happy as I am to stick around and continue to do me.
