"As long as you believe it; you can achieve and make anything possible. But don't just stand there talking about what you wish you could have or who you wish you could be, go out and do it. Grab that opportunity and run wild with it."
What do you want from your life? Do you have an answer that springs to mind? Something that keeps you going, stops you from giving up and something that you're forever pushing to achieve? Do you have a dream? Do you believe you're taking the right path in life? The reason I ask you this is important, I want you to focus, think and really connect to your thoughts because it's so important to tune into these deep thoughts.
It's only fair to firstly tell you what I want from my life, the things that matter to me because this will hopefully help you in understanding me and the purpose of this post.
My one absolute priority in everything I do comes down to HAPPINESS, I will not do anything if I know it isn't going to bring me happiness or simply make me happy. Now I know this sounds extremely clichè as hell and you're probably rolling your eyes here, but listen as obvious as this may seem there are plenty of people out there who are doing things everyday without being happy. You see that person in a dead beat job, day in day out, just to get by and provide food on the table? Do you honestly think they don't have dreams and aspire to do more with life? Do you presume this is the purpose of their life? NO - Probably not, they also may be working on something outside of that job, but it's one path they may have to take in order to achieve more in the future, but that's my point here.
You see for me I know some of you will agree and some will disagree with me but that's the whole reason I'm writing this blog post because it's something we need to discuss. We live in a society where we basically follow this rule of life;
We go to school, college, university > We get a job to earn money in the corporate world > We get married, have children, settle down while still working at this job > We retire in our old age > We die.
That's it, the simple life circle so many of us live and expect everyone else to follow. But you know when you're at work, whatever it may be are you happy? Do you wake every single day excited for what's ahead or do you dread it? We have one life, one chance, so why get to retirement with "what ifs" and disappointment for not following your dreams. For me personally, I believe you can do whatever your heart desires, so long as you're prepared to try.
I've had jobs worked with different companies tried perusing what I thought I wanted from a career, but hey you know what I haven't always felt that those employers give a damn about me as a person, the only thing they care about is you completing you're job for them. You may be earning peanuts, unhappy with the way you're being treated and you know what, I personally feel that unless the job you're in brings you happiness and the people around you care about you then sure it's fine to leave, move on and go dig to find better, find what you need from a company. Life is too short and these things aren't the be all or end all, being unhappy in work will only drag you down. Sure, going against the tide can be scary, quitting something may feel impossible but it's the 21st century and the opportunities right now are endless.
I aspire to achieve more than the "corporate working life" doing a job just to get by, I aspire to achieve my dream work for myself in doing something that I am proud of and something that I not only believe in but something I know will bring me happiness. Of course nothing happens over night, I may have to take certain steps in order to get to where I want to be, yes I will be working for someone else in the mean time in order to live now, but that's why whenever I'm not working I instead choose to do things to achieve my goals outside, work - THE GRIND. The grind you do now is what will get you to where you want to be, the grind is the thing you need to focus on if you want to achieve anything in life.
I want to continuously grow and evolve, not look back and feel like everything has stayed the same except my age. You can work towards anything, improve anything as long as you're prepared to learn. Learn the things you need in order to get closer to your end goal, research anything you don't know because you have the resources available to do so. At the end of the day, you need to be "doing" in order to get there, if you're not "doing" how do you expect to get to where you want to be? Don't be the person who continuously talks about "wishing this" or "wanting that" and not actually heading out "doing" the things you need in order to get it.
The most funder-mental thing that you need is always STAY TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE. Don't do something just because someone else is, don't be the person who changes personality around different people to please them. Know who you are as a human being and own yourself. Own who you are, your flaws, your views, your style, your outlook and never try to be anything that you're not. People will see straight through a person if you aren't authentic, be the real you and be genuine. For instance I am genuinely a kind hearted person, I love to build others up and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I guess being kind hearted can at times make me vulnerable because I naturally see good in others and I trust people easily. But I wouldn't change it, because that's who I am, so why shouldn't I be me and be proud? If you're a regular reader of mine or you know me personally, you'll know that I thrive off being an open and honest person. I say my thoughts, share my views and I'm not afraid of being truthful, I'm not here just to please others.
If you want to become a well known YouTuber then guess what.. in order to get closer to that dream you have to actually start doing it. Make a video, upload it, share it and grow with it, connect with others who are already in your market but above anything you need to have patience, be prepared to work hard, it might be years for you to get to where you want to be, but at least you're taking the correct steps. You will never know if you're capable of something until you go out and try. I'm doing this blog, publishing every week because I know this is what I want to do in my future and I know sitting around wishing it would happen will achieve nothing, so instead I choose to DO, to keep on pushing, publishing and writing because one day I might just achieve what I want, but even if it doesn't get as big as I'd hoped for, I'll continue to do this because it's what I love to do and it makes me happy.
There's so much more to life, so much more to see, do and achieve, honestly the opportunities are endless. A few years ago things like Influencers, Bloggers and YouTubers didn't exist, but someone made it possible. Never ever step on someone else's toes just to make yourself look better, support those around who are also living the grind in order to push towards their goals, support the people who are doing things differently, the people who like me are actually TRYING to get themselves the things they wish for. Don't just become comfortable, because being comfortable doesn't bring you anything more, it leads you no where apart from a dead road. I am so driven by those in this industry who have made it to where they want to be, people like Sarah Ashcroft, Rob Lisett, Imogen Hudson, Amanda Bucci and so many more these people wouldn't be where they are now if they didn't start with the baby steps in the first place.
Sure people might look at you like your crazy when you publish your first blog post or video, when you tell them your dreams they may doubt you, raise an eye brow and think "yeah right" but they do that because that's not the "normal" thing to do. But you know what, I find it crazier watching someone slave away hours of their everyday life working for a company that brings them nothing but a pay cheque, that's not saying the people in office jobs etc aren't doing good! No I'm on about the people who work but aren't happy doing what they're doing and they constantly moan about how shit there job is.. yet do nothing to improve it, find more and take control. At the end of the day you are in charge of your life, not Bill from over the road or Ben your boss, they are not in charge of your life and they shouldn't have any control over your happiness.
As long as you believe it; you can achieve and make anything possible. But don't just stand there talking about what you wish you could have or who you wish you could be, go out and do it. Grab that opportunity and run wild with it.
So again, I'll ask you What do you want from your life? What keeps you going, stops you from giving up and something that you're forever pushing to achieve? Do you have a dream? Do you believe you're taking the right path in life? - Drop your answers below, I'd love to hear the answers you guys have, I've shared mine so why not go ahead and write down yours? Did you know that if you write these things down you're more likely to actually go ahead and achieve it!
Honestly guys, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, those of you who follow my social media and those of you who read my blogs, you give me that little more hope that one day my dreams will become reality. But I'm here to try and also push and inspire you into realising you can do it too. Lets crack the negativity, the competition and all of those who doubt you, instead lets pull together, build each other up and inspire everyone. Let's show the world that life is to short, to waste our lives living unhappily, that we can do anything we desire and there's a much bigger purpose. Until next time, Amy.
