"Being in a relationship with my bestfriend has and forever will be the best thing thats ever happened to me, something I will cherish for
I've always been that girl who loves to read romantic happy books, watch soppy dramatic movies and spend good quailty time to myself, usually I will be snuggled under a blanket with a scented candle burning.
I took some time recently away from my blog to really focus on my well being and my positivity, I guess you could say I wanted to take a leaf out of my own book; regarding my last post "Positivity is key" after writing that blog, it came to me that although written from the heart, I was actually struggling to follow my own words. So I worked hard at bettering myself to wards others and just me in general and I'm more than happy to say I think it's worked. However the other night while I was sleeping, something deep inside me told me my next blog should be about "Accidental love" so here I am writing and sharing my own love story for those that care.
I'm currently sat in my parents living room on a Saturday morning, writing as I love to do so. I know not everyone in the world enjoys to read or watch romances and that's fine, I can't accomodate everyone. But this is just something I personally will enjoy sharing and writing with anyone who is interested.
So as always grab a coffee and enjoy your read.
I met Calum around 3 years ago now through another relationship I was in at that time. I think myself and my ex were happy but deep down knew we would always be far too different for it ever to become serious. The relationship ended after 7 months.
Calum's parents actually lived in a little village, about an hour and a half away from Cambridge, but Calum actually worked in Cambridge so found the commute hard. So my ex decided it would be nice to allow Calum to sleep on his sofa in my exes flat. A lot of the time my evenings would be spent with those two and a few other of my exes friends.
Me and Calum actually got on really well together from the first day we we're introduced to eachother. (Although he went to the same school as me, he was in the year above. We had known of eachother but never really spoken) I will happily say we got along so well woth eachother that he soon became my bestfriend. The nice thing was Calum never became between my relationship, because we all got along so well. Anyway that relationship came to an end, but my friendship with Calum never did.
We continued to hang out going to the cinema, walks in the evening or just those little things bestfriends do. I've always had friends although I would only say 11 including Cal and most of my other friends are all girls, so it was nice to have the contrast of a male friend I could trust and talk to openly.
I knew from the first day I met Calum that he wasn't the 'typical lad' tthat enjoys to sleep around and play with girls feelings. He was different, instead he had gone through some tough shit, that left him a little damaged, he was kind, trust worthy, honest, always a giver, smiley, polite and playful. I think that's why we got along so well together and our friendship just seemed to grow and grow.
I remember the first time I took Calum home to meet my parents and the rest of my family, they knew he was my bestfriend and straight away they grew to also love his personality. That's the funny thing I genuinely will never understand how anyone could ever not like him or get along with him. He was always willing to help my mum in the garden, or do any jobs she needed a stronger guy to do she always knew she could ask and he'd never refuse.
One evening I was sat on the sofa with my mum when she looked at me and simply said "he's the type of guy you need aimes, not these horrible little boys that play games and hurt your feelings. I can see he adores you and will look after you. He's different to the rest and has a sparkle in his eye when he looks at you. Even when he accidently hurts you, it's clear he cares."
The next day I couldn't stop thinking about my mums words and soon ended up telling Calum her exact words. He then smiled at me cheekily, kissed me on the cheek and said "I think I've fallen in love with you aimes" from then I knew I also felt the same and I couldn't stop myself for falling in love with him every day that little bit more.
The day we decided to tell our families they both told us they already knew. After 8 months of our relationship we decided we we're ready to hunt for our first place together, we looked for around 3 months before we viewed this goregous little loft flat. At that first viewing we both fell in love and paid the deposit there and then. A week later on the 11th December 2015 we had moved in, I took charge in decorating our place to make it feel like a home and it was so wonderful to be able to spend our very first chritmas together in our flat.
Today is the 11th November 2016 and we moved out of the flat a week ago after decided for what we we're paying we could easily save for a house with a garden just outside of Cambridge. So here we are both livinf back with our parents ready to save some money and look for our next home. I can honestly say living with Cal taught me a tremendious amount about our relationship and proved just how well we get on together, it's like a house is on fire when we're together and I can honestly say I'm extremely excited to see what the future holds for us both.
Being in a relationship with my bestfriend has and forever will be the best thing that's ever happened to me, something I will cherish for a lifetime.
